U.S. State Department foreign service officer James Bullington was assigned to Vietnam during the war. It was there he met his future wife, Tuy-Cam, a foreign service national, who served as his translator. In this interview conducted by the Witness to War Foundation, the Bullingtons talked about their time in Vietnam, including the 1966 burning of the U.S. consulate in Hue. They also described how Mr. Bullington disguised himself as a French priest when they were trapped behind enemy lines during the first days of the 1968 Tet Offensive. close
