U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) administrator Mark Green testified before a Senate Appropriations subcommittee on his agency’s fiscal year 2019 budget request. He also commented on the agency’s work in countries such as Syria and Ukraine, assistance for Venezuelan refugees and USAID’s role in helping countries become self-reliant. The hearing began with remarks by Subcommittee Chair Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on the Trump administration’s proposed cuts to foreign assistance.

USAID is responsible for administering civilian aid and development assistance in foreign countries. close
