The Senate Rules and Administration Committee held a hearing to consider a legislative proposal, sponsored by Senator James Lankford (R-OK), that would change procedures for the consideration of nominations. The committee approved the proposal by a party-line vote of 10-9, reporting it favorably to the full Senate. The bill aims to limit post-cloture debate from thirty hours to eight hours for nominations, not including most Cabinet-level and senior judicial nominees. The bill would also limit debate time for U.S. district court nominations to two hours. close
