Historian Allen Guelzo talked about his book, Reconstruction: A Concise History. He argued that despite the ratification of the 14th and 15th Amendments, the Reconstruction period failed to solidify the promise of African American equality, in part due to the poor leadership of President Andrew Johnson. The Midtown Scholar Bookstore and National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania co-hosted this event. close
