The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral argument in Regents of the University of California v. Department of Homeland Security, on President Trump’s decision to end the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The three-judge panel was to consider whether the president had the legal authority to rescind the immigration program started under his predecessor, President Obama. The Trump administration announced in 2017 the program would be canceled on a phased-out approach. In January 2018, a San Francisco judge issued a nationwide preliminary injunction blocking the president’s decision to end DACA.
