Former officials from the Departments of Justice and Education took part in a forum on hate crimes. Also speaking was a former FBI special agent who talked about her experiences working in the bureau’s civil rights unit. Some of the areas discussed included federal guidance for schools, the reliability of hate crime data, and the implications of the Justice Department’s withdrawal of guidance clarifying protections for transgender people.
