Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) spoke on the chamber floor in favor of a resolution to overturn the Federal Communication Commission’s (FCC) repeal of the Obama administration’s net neutrality rules. Those rules regulated the internet like a public utility and prohibited internet service providers from blocking or charging websites for higher quality delivery to consumers. The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) repeal of net neutrality was to go into effect June 11. Senator Markey (D-MA) also spoke.

The Senate later voted 52-47 to reinstate net neutrality. close
