Created for the Office of War Information by director William Wyler and a crew of photographers, this film documents several missions of the Memphis Belle B-17 bomber in 1943. In May of that year, Memphis Belle became one of the first B-17s to complete 25 missions in Europe and return from the war under its own power, where she and her crew toured the United States. The documentary was selected for preservation by the National Film Registry. close
