Gregory Crouch recalled the life of John Mackay, who in the mid-1800s laid claim to one of the largest concentrations of gold and silver ever discovered in the U.S. The precious metals, found below Virginia City, Nevada, made Mackay tremendously wealthy. He died in 1902 with a fortune equivalent to $40 billion dollars today. close
