The Center on Privacy and Technology at the Georgetown University Law Center held a discussion on location privacy and cell phones, following the Supreme Court ruling in Carpenter v. United States. In the 5-4 decision the Court found that police generally need a warrant to obtain a person’s cell phone location data from a company. In this portion, a cellular network data analyst talked about data collection and retention, followed by a discussion with legal experts on Carpenter v. United States and how the ruling may affect future law enforcement activities and potential legal challenges. close
