The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee held a hearing to consider legislation that would amend the Endangered Species Act and reauthorize the law for the first time since 1992. The legislation, based on recommendations from the Western Governors Association, aims to devolve some protective powers to the states and increase transparency in the law’s implementation. Governor Matt Mead (R-WY), Colorado Parks and Wildlife Director Bob Broscheid, and Virginia Natural Resources Secretary Matthew Strickler provided testimony before the committee. close
