Acting Veterans Affairs Secretary Peter O’Rourke testified before the House Veterans' Affairs Committee on implementation of the VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act, which was signed into law in June 2017. Acting Secretary O’Rourke said retaliation against VA employees who identify a legitimate problem or violation is “absolutely unacceptable.” Other topics addressed included workforce morale, whistleblower training, staff vacancies and VA employee performance. The committee also heard testimony from the national president of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE). close
