At an event hosted by the Heritage Foundation, Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the U.N., explained the Trump administration’s decision to withdraw from the U.N. Human Rights Council. Ambassador Haley said the council, based in Geneva, had strayed away from its mission and was hyper-politicized, particularly regarding issues involving Israel. After her remarks, two State Department officials discussed ways the U.S. could promote its human rights agenda outside of the U.N. Human Rights Council. close
