Officials with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), USA Gymnastics (USAG) and Michigan State University (MSU) testified before a Senate Commerce subcommittee on changes the institutions have made to protect amateur athletes from abuse. Former Michigan Governor John Engler (R), serving as MSU interim president, was asked twice by Ranking Member Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) about an alleged exchange he had with an abuse survivor in which she claimed he offered her money. Governor. Engler denied this claim. Dozens of abuse survivors and supporters attended this hearing. close
