Energy industry leaders and policy experts testified before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on factors affecting global oil prices. Witnesses discussed changes in the U.S. oil and gas industries, the future of the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), and the potential impact of Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz to oil trading. At the start of the hearing, committee members considered and voted on four Energy Department nominees. close
