Representative Elijah Cummings (D-MD) and Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) led a roundtable discussion in Baltimore with local officials, community representatives and members of Congress on combating the opioid epidemic. They discussed their legislative proposal called the Comprehensive Addiction Resources Emergency Act, or CARE. Other notable speakers included Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh (D), Baltimore Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen, Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) and Representative John Sarbanes (D-MD). Following the roundtable discussion, the public officials spoke briefly to reporters. This event was hosted by the Health Care for the Homeless organization. close
