The third of seven films in the Why We Fight series details military aggression by Germany after the September 1, 1939, invasion of Poland. Using animated maps created at Disney studios, newsreels, Army and Nazi footage and some dramatized scenes, the film details the invasions of Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Holland, and France. Designed to explain the causes and course of the war to U.S. Army troops before they went overseas, the “Why We Fight” films were produced between 1942 and 1945 by Academy Award winner Frank Capra and a team of Army Signal Corps technicians and Hollywood veterans. close
