Sarah Sanders answered reporters' questions. She was asked about President Trump’s disparaging tweets about former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman, who recently criticized the president and released secret audio recordings from her time in the West Wing. Ms. Sanders said the president was “voicing his frustration” in those tweets in which he called Ms. Newman a “dog” and a “crazed, crying lowlife.” Ms. Sanders was also asked about Ms. Newman’s allegation that the president had used a racial epithet. Ms. Sanders said she had never heard him say that word or anything similar. When asked if she could guarantee that the American people would never hear the president say that word on a recording, Ms. Sanders said, “I can’t guarantee anything, but I can tell you the president addressed this question directly.” In the beginning of the briefing, Defense Department officials provided an update on efforts to repatriate the remains of American soldiers killed in the Korean War. close
