The Senate Judiciary Committee met to discuss Chair Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) decision to limit the request for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s records. Senator Grassley accused some Democrats of trying to stall the confirmation process for political reasons. Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) spoke out about the move to limit the request and called for full transparency leading up to Judge Kavanaugh’s September 4 confirmation hearing. Senator Leahy said Senator Grassley’s decision was a “sad commentary” on the committee and that the process was “hopelessly conflicted.” close
