State and Treasury Department officials testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on a range of issues surrounding the U.S.-Russia relationship. Topics included new reports of Russian interference in American democracy, the current state of sanctions against Russian government officials and companies, and clarifying details into the July 2018 Helsinki meeting between President Trump and Russian President Putin. Several members referenced a recent Microsoft claim alleging a Russian plot targeting conservative think tanks and institutions.

This hearing was the second in a services of Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearings on what Committee Chair Bob Corker (R-TN) called the Trump administration’s “overall posture on Russia.” The program identification number for the first hearing, held on July 25, 2018, is 448677-1. close
