Following their weekly caucus luncheon, Minority Leader Charles Schumer (NY) and Senators Michael Bennet (D-CO) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM) spoke with reporters. The three discussed forthcoming legislation to be introduced that would require income data to be reported along with quarterly gross domestic product (GDP) data released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. They argued that doing so would allow for a better and broader understanding of how the economy was functioning, as well as how lower and middle income families were being affected. Other topics included trade with Mexico and Canada, the Supreme Court nomionee Judge Brett Kavanaugh, and how the Senate might honor the late Senator John McCain (R-AZ). close
