President Trump made remarks to reporters following an Oval Office meeting with International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) president Gianni Infantino and U.S. Soccer Federation president Carlos Cordeiro on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which the U.S., Canada, and Mexico were to host. After being presented with soccer jerseys bearing his name, President Trump when asked about his proposed U.S.-Mexico border wall said, “The wall will be paid for very easily, by Mexico. It’ll ultimately be paid for by Mexico.” When asked about his tweets earlier in the day accusing Google of suppressing news from conservative outlets, he replied, “I think Google is really taking advantage of a lot of people, and I think that’s a very serious thing and it’s a very serious charge.” President Trump also flashed a soccer “red card” to the press after it was given to him by the FIFA president. close
