Nursing historian Amelia Grabowski talked about Clara Barton’s experience as a field nurse at the 1862 Battle of Antietam. Ms. Grabowski argued that Barton learned valuable lessons that she later applied when working with the European Red Cross, an experience that lead her to create the American Red Cross. This talk was part of a conference on the Battle of Antietam that took place at Shepherd University. close
