Alvin York biographer Douglas Mastriano talked about the life of the Tennessee native including his early years growing up on a farm, his religious conversion and pacifism, and his World War I actions that led to the capture of 132 German prisoners in the Argonne forest of France.

On October 8, 1918, Alvin York earned a Medal of Honor while fighting the German army during the Meuse Argonne offensive. He would later be portrayed by Academy Award winner Gary Cooper in the 1941 film, “Sergeant York.” close
