Governor Roy Cooper (D-NC), FEMA administrator Brock Long, and North Carolina officials briefed reporters on the impact of Hurricane Florence. The governor said that there were 26 confirmed deaths due to the storm, 1,100 road closures, and over 340,000 people without power,and first responders had rescued more than 2,200 people. The governor also noted that flooding would continue. “Rivers continue to rise,” warned the governor. “And we will see more flooding.” He added that 16 rivers remained at major flood stage with an additional three ready to peak. close
