British Conservative Party member Owen Paterson delivered remarks on the state of negotiations for the U.K.'s exit from the European Union (also known as "Brexit") and the U.K.'s future relations with the U.S.. In his remarks, Mr. Paterson underscored the importance of a free trade agreement between the U.S. and the U.K. and explained how the current European Union regulations and Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit deal negatively affect the United Kingdom. Following his remarks, he took questions from the audience. The U.K. was scheduled to leave the EU on March 29, 2019. close
