President Clinton cut his Hawaiian vacation a day short and flew to Des Moines, Iowa to examine the damage resulting from the floods in Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri. He took a helicopter tour of the Des Moines damage and spoke with Senators Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) and Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) about the damage. He also took questions from reporters concerning federal funding for disaster relief. close
