Virginia Governor Ralph Northam (D) discussed Medicaid expansion in his state at the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) conference. An additional 400,000 low-income adults would gain access to Medicaid coverage starting January 1, 2019. Virginia joins 32 other states and the District of Columbia in expanding Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Following the governor’s remarks, health care officials from North Carolina and Virginia took part in a panel discussion on the challenges and benefits of their state’s Medicaid programs. close
