The Defense Advisory Committee on Sexual Assault in the Armed Forces met to hear testimony from a sexual assault litigation specialist with the U.S. Marine Corps, who advocated for the “same due process” for service members that is given to civilians. The specialist outlined several negative impacts a mere charge of sexual misconduct can have on the career of someone serving in the military. The Defense committee was authorized by Congress in 2016 to advise the Pentagon on sexual misconduct by service members. close
