Jan Kassies, director of visitor services for the Lake Havasu City Convention and Visitors Bureau, talked about how a bridge that once spanned the River Thames in London made its way to western Arizona. The London Bridge was purchased by Lake Havasu City’s founder, Robert McCulloch, as an attraction for his new city. Today it’s Arizona’s second biggest attraction, second only to the Grand Canyon.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2018 LCV Cities Tour” in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, from October 6-10, 2018, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Altice cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
