Attorney General Jeff Sessions delivered opening remarks at the Justice Department’s inaugural National Opioid Summit. At the start, he condemned those responsible for mailing explosive devices to former public officials and a news outlet. Attorney General Sessions also announced $35 million in funding to support law enforcement efforts to combat the distribution of methamphetamine, heroin and prescription opioids along with another $35 million to assist children impacted by the opioid epidemic. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Justice Department opioid coordinator Mary Daly also spoke. close
