White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders held a briefing with reporters. She expressed grief for the victims of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting which happened over the weekend prior to this briefing, and said President Trump and first lady Melania Trump planned to travel to Pennsylvania to “express the support of the American people and grieve with the Pittsburgh community.” She also addressed questions about the president’s tweets and comments in which he referred to “fake news media” as the “enemy of the people,” and said the president would continue to “draw contrasts” between his positions and those of Democratic candidates running in the midterm elections. close
