The Justice for Jamal Khashoggi campaign held a memorial service for the late Washington Post columnist who died in early October at the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. Several friends, colleagues and supporters spoke about Mr. Khashoggi and what they hoped would result from his death, which many believed was a murder at the hands of the Saudi government. The second portion of the service featured a panel discussion in which speakers called for an independent investigation of Mr. Khashoggi’s death. They cited what they called an increasing pattern of abductions and abuse on behalf of the Saudi government which they said the U.S. and international community was enabling. The service concluded with remarks and a prayer from an imam, who invited all in attendance to participate. close
