British Prime Minister Theresa May updated members in the House of Commons on the latest round of Brexit negotiations, following a five-hour emergency meeting held a day earlier with her cabinet, where they backed a draft agreement. Before her remarks, several members of her cabinet, including the current Brexit secretary, resigned over disagreements in the draft proposal. Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn called the deal “half-baked” and Scottish National Party leader Ian Blackford said the draft proposal was “dead in the water.” The Prime Minister fielded dozens of questions during this 90-minute portion of the debate, with most members expressing their disappointment and questioning her political future. Some argued for a second referendum on the U.K. leaving the European Union. Prime Minister May intended to meet with European leaders over this latest proposal in Brussels. close
