Georgetown University Professor Joseph McCartin taught a class on the post-industrialization transformation of work, starting in the 1960s and continuing through the end of the 20th century. He described emerging technologies, such as bar codes and computers, which enabled global supply chains. He also talked about the move to shareholder capitalism, a decrease in union power, and an increase of wage inequality. close
