Mission Inn
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2018 LCV Cities Tour” in Riverside, California, from October 10-17, 2018, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

The Mission Inn Hotel has become a recognizable landmark in Riverside. Since 1903, the Mission Inn been host to U.S. presidents, celebrities, and other major social gatherings including the place where Pat and Richard Nixon were married. Steve Lech, volunteer docent at the Mission Inn Foundation and Karen Raines, collections manager at the Mission Inn Museum, shared how founder Frank Miller took this place from a small adobe boarding house to a grand hotel.
