On November 11, 1921, the remains of an unidentified WWI soldier were interred at Arlington National Cemetery. Combat historian Patrick O’Donnell explained how the soldier’s remains were chosen and transported from France to America, and detailed the stories of the WWI servicemen who served as Body Bearers. He is the author of The Unknowns: The Untold Story of America’s Unknown Soldier and WWI’s Most Decorated Heroes Who Brought Him Home. This talk was part of a three-day conference hosted by the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. close
