Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, spoke to reporters after a closed-door briefing from CIA Director Gina Haspel with some senators on Saudi Arabia and the death of U.S.-based Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. He expressed frustration that only key senators were allowed to attend the briefing. Senator Paul attended a full Senate briefing the previous week, but the CIA director did not attend that gathering. “I think the CIA conclusion should not be classified,” he said. close
