Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chair Mark Warner (D-VA) spoke about cybersecurity policy in an address at the Center for a New American Security in Washington, DC. The top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee called for the adoption of a comprehensive U.S. cyber doctrine to address the dual threats of cyberattacks and misinformation operations. The senator warned that other countries, namely Russia and China, were ahead of the U.S. in this new domain, which he said could be just as dangerous and costly as traditional warfare. Senator Warner outlined a series of proposals that he believed could bring together government and private sector stakeholders with a defined set of standards, regulations and best practices in combating cyber threats and misinformation. close
