The Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Border Security and Immigration held a hearing on drug cartels and border security. The first panel featured administration and Homeland Security officials, including U.S. Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost who talked about the work of her agents and the challenges of patrolling and securing the borders and ports of entry. In the second panel, former U.S. diplomats and State Department officials, and the Tucson, Arizona, chief of police discussed the last few decades of U.S. efforts to confront these issues, and made recommendations for how current law enforcement agencies and Trump administration officials should proceed. close
