The Washington Institute for Near East Policy held a discussion on civil disobedience in Iran as the 40th anniversary of the creation of the the Islamic Republic of Iran approached. The keynote speaker was Reza Pahlavi, the son of the last shah of Iran who was dethroned in the 1979 Iranian Revolution. He talked about the impact civil disobedience could play in an overthrow of the Islamic Republic’s government, and about the impact foreign governments could have on that process. After a moderated discussion, Mr. Pahlavi answered questions from the audience. close
