The House passed bills aimed at reopening part of the federal government, which was in day 20 of a partial shutdown, funding the Departments of Agriculture, Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development. The legislation includes funding for the food stamp program, also known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and housing programs. Ten Republicans joined all Democrats in voting for the measure. The Senate said it would not debate the spending bills because President Trump said he would veto them. close
