House Democratic Caucus Chair Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) held a news conference after meeting behind closed doors on the legislative agenda with the party rank-and-file members. Represenatatives Jeffries called for an end to the government shutdown and the need to have a reasonable discussion about border security. He criticized President Trump’s border wall proposal saying, “We are not willing to waste taxpayer dollars on a medieval border wall.” He was joined by House Democratic Caucus Vice Chair Katherine Clark (D-MA) and two freshman members, Representatives Colin Allred (D-TX) and Xochitl Torres Small (D-NM). close
