Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) made a unanimous consent request to bring up a bill that would fund all the closed parts of the government except for the Homeland Security Department.

Senate Majority Leader McConnell (R-KY) objected, saying Democrats must negotiate with President Trump before the Senate considered any spending bills.

Senator Van Hollen (D-MD) then made a unanimous consent request to bring up a short-term continuing resolution to re-open the Homeland Security Department. Senator McConnell objected. close
