On day 25 of a government shutdown, the House debated a bill that would have reopened the government through February 1. The measure failed by a vote of 237-187, short of the 2/3 majority needed to pass. In a vote of 424-1, the chamber also passed legislation condemning Representative Steve King (R-IA) for comments he made in a recent New York Times article on white nationalism and white supremacy. close
