On day 26 of a government shutdown over President Trump’s demand for a U.S.-Mexico border wall, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer responded to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s earlier floor speech, calling his arguments “old and stale” and said Senator McConnell can re-open the government. Senator Schumer then spoke about the vote on Russia sanctions coming up later that day, saying the resolution to maintain sanctions on three Russian companies is needed because President Trump does not have the strength to stand up to Russian President Vladimir Putin. close
