Washington State of the State Address

Governor Jay Inslee (D-WA) delivered his 2019 State of the State address in the state capital of Olympia. Governor Inslee reflected on 2018 and outlined his goals for the new year, which include providing state assistance for college education, increasing the number of counselors and mental health professionals in schools, investing to save the local orca whale population, and improving air quality, which deteriorated in the state due to historic wildfires in 2018. The governor also talked about Washington as a state that welcomed refugees and embraced diversity, touting his state’s “sanctuary” status. close
