Senate Democratic leaders spoke to reporters in the Capitol following their weekly party luncheon. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and his leadership team briefed reporter referred to the ongoing government shutdown as the “Trump shutdown,” and said it was up to the president to reopen the government. He said public opinion was strengthening for his and the Democrats' position, and weakening against President Trump’s. “The American people are overwhelmingly on our side,” he said. close
