Michael Pregent, a long-time military and government adviser on the Middle East, was the featured speaker at an Institute of World Politics-hosted discussion on Iraq’s government and Iran’s efforts to influence its officials as well as the country’s political, economic, security, and religious leaders. He talked about missteps in U.S. policy in Iraq and Iran over the previous two decades and how those allowed Iran and its leaders to have more influence over Iraqi politics, particularly among young people. At the end of the moderated discussion, Mr. Pregent took questions from the audience. close
