Stephen Moore gave an illustrated talk on the importance of American dive bombers during the Battle of Guadalcanal and their role in the fight against Japan between August 7, 1942, and February 9, 1943. Mr. Moore also detailed the personal stories of several pilots and their experiences fighting for the U.S against Japanese forces. Moore is the author of, The Battle for Hell’s Island: How a Small Band of Carrier Dive-Bombers Helped Save Guadalcanal. This talk was part of a day-long symposium on the Battle of Guadalcanal hosted by the National World War II Museum in New Orleans. close
